2015-2016 Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner Financial Literacy Multi-Media Arts Contest.
All Oakland County public high school students are invited to participate in the 2015-2016 Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner Financial Literacy Multi-Media Arts Contest. The contest deadline is February 26, 2016. Thanks to major sponsors Flagstar Bank and PNC Bank, grade level winner(s) will receive college scholarships and cash prizes - over $8,000 has been awarded each year! All art will be displayed in the Oakland County Treasurer's office and online for one year, and ALL participants and "fans" are invited to the reception, which will take place in April during Financial Literacy month. This unique contest, based on Michigan's financial literacy grade level content benchmarks, is for more than 2-D art! Last year's top $1,000 winner was a stop-action video, and the hope is for a music or theatrical video this year, along with the 2-D submissions.
More information, contest overview and application can be found on this site. Teachers - In conjunction with the arts contest, it can be arranged for Andy Meisner to visit schools to talk about the importance of financial literacy. He is exuberant and highly supportive of arts education. His optimum audience would include: visual art, music, video, theatre, technology, as well as any others who teach financial literacy skills, such as business, social studies, economics, etc. Contact Ross Gavin at 248.858.0627 to schedule this opportunity.
