Board Member Biographies​

President​ - Dr. Theresa Rich

Elected to a six-year term on 6/4/2012, expires 6/30/2018

Dr. Theresa Rich, of Farmington Hills, was appointed as trustee by the Oakland Schools Board of Education on February 15, 2010. She is a veteran employee of General Motors who works in Human Resources/Organizational Development. Dr. Rich has extensive board and commission experience, including service on the Farmington Hills Commission on Children, Youth & Families, Farmington Pledge Committee and Farmington Hills/Farmington Foundation for Youth & Families.

Dr. Rich received her MBA/BBA in Accounting from Grand Valley State University, LL.M (Taxation) and JD from Wayne State University Law School, and Ph.D. (Organization and Management) from Capella University. She is married to Brian Rich and has two children, Zachary and Alyson.​

Vice President​ - Mr. Marc Katz

Elected to a six-year term on 6/4/2012, expires 6/30/2018

Marc D. Katz of Berkley served on the Berkley Board of Education from 1990 through 2011. During his tenure on that board he served as President, Vice President and Treasurer. He also served on the Oakland County School Board Association Board of Directors from 2001-2011, serving two years as President. He served on the Oakland County School Board Association Legislative Committee for 21.5 years, and chaired the Committee for many years. He has received the Presidents Award from the Michigan Association of School Boards and the Distinguished Service Award from the National School Board Association. Mr. Katz has also served as the Michigan District Optimist Governor and as a Vice President for Optimist International. He is employed as Senior Instructor/Training Coordinator for Kaplan Professional Education. Mr. Katz and his wife Nancy have three daughters that are graduates of the Berkley School District.​

​Treasurer​ - Mr. Connie R. Williams, CPA, FHFMA

Elected to a six-year term on 6/6/2016, expires 6/30/2022

​Mr. Connie R. Williams, CPA, FHFMA, served on the Southfield Public Schools Board of Education from 2004 - 2009, including serving as its President and Vice President. Mr. Williams is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Fellow in the Health Care Financial Management Association (FHFMA). He has served as an elected member of National Board of the HFMA and as a member of its Principles and Practices Board. He is the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer of the Botsford Health Care Corporation of Farmington Hills. 

Mr. Williams is a graduate of Wayne State University's School of Business Administration and is a member of Beta Alpha Psi, The National Accounting Fraternity. He and his wife Margie have two daughters.


Secretary - Mr. George Ehlert

Elected to a six-year term on 6/2/2014, expires 6/30/2020​

​Mr. George R. Ehlert, PE, has over 25 years’ experience as a Board Member – 17 years serving on the board of South Lyon Community Schools (1992 through 2009), and ten years on the Oakland Schools Board of Education (2003 - 2008 and 2010 through the present). He has held a variety of offices on each board including President, Vice President and Secretary. He has served on numerous committees and as board representative over that time frame.  He is a graduate of Michigan Technological University and has received the honor of being a member of their Academy of Civil and Environmental Engineers.

Mr. Ehlert is a consulting engineer, semi-retired, after serving as Founding Principal and President of Ehlert Bryan, Inc., a consulting Structural Engineering firm based in Southfield for 30 years. Mr. Ehlert and his wife, a retired public school math teacher (Walled Lake Schools) have three grown children, all successful graduates of the SLCS system.​

​Trustee - Ms. Barbara A. DeMarco

Elected to a six-year term on 6/6/2016, expires 6/30/2022

​ Barbara A. DeMarco of West Bloomfield is a former member of the West Bloomfield Board of Education. She is also a member of the Legislative Committee of the Oakland County School Boards Association. She is self-employed designing, developing and maintaining information technology systems.​
